people will let you down....eventually

i've heard this line being used by everyone mostly when they are feeling low or someone has not 'come through' for them. but the next time someone says that to you, ask them this, 'if people let you down, then why the hell are you telling me this?' it's easy to generalize any behavior or action to the whole human race but an idiot will tell you that it is wrong to do that. when one person lets you down someone else will come through for you. i can think of so many quotes from movies, books, tv shows etc and two of them stand out. both contradicting each other but both reflective of the character of the person.

this is a famous quote by John Donne an english poet that said "No man is an Island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the Continent, a part of the main."

and my second favorite is by Dr. Perry Cox from Scrubs who says, " we are all alone ,we are born alone and will die alone and you are all you have."

both quotes are true to a certain extent and thats what's strange. you can't really disagree with either.

i feel the strength of a person is in his/her ability to trust again after being let down by someone else. you need not trust the same person again but find the important thing is not to lose trust in others because of one bad experience.

People aren't as bad and horrible and selfish as you think they are :-)
